About us

Theater, music, galleries, museums, dance, youth culture, clubs, or fine arts – Barmen has a lot to offer when it comes to the arts! Based on this premise, Kulturnetzwerk Barmen strives to support its members and establish Barmen as a strong nexus for the arts in the region.

Our definition of culture is broad and not aimed at cultural niches: We aim to reach a wide local and regional audience, hoping to inspire them to experience the arts in Barmen. Our goal is to support our members in establishing new audiences, fostering collaboration and offering new opportunities for creation and consumption of cultural events through content-based exchange and joint marketing.

Together, we aim to showcase the richness of artistic (variety) that already exists within Barmen, support its growth, enhance visibility and attract a new generation of arts patrons.

Kulturnetzwerk Barmen is coordinated by „BarmenUrban – Büro für Innenstadtentwicklung“. BarmenUrban acts on behalf of Stadt Wuppertal to coordinate inner city management for the renewal of Barmen within the realisation of Integrierten städtebaulichen Entwicklungskonzepts Barmen (ISEK). As part of its mandate, BarmenUrban strives to create awareness for Barmen as a center for arts and culture.
